AAAD modernised business processes with AWS SAP infrastructure

Ahmad A. Abed Trading Est. needed a faster, more cost-effective way to modernise SAP infrastructure and support real-time supply chain and finance operations across stores and warehouses in Saudi Arabia. Cloudwrxs designed and delivered an AWS-based SAP infrastructure path that reduced procurement delay, supported live migration and gave the internal team a clearer roadmap for cloud operations.

3 months
Migration window

Live on-premise SAP environments and supporting systems were migrated to AWS within a controlled three-month programme.

$250k
Avoided infrastructure estimate

The cloud route avoided the client’s internal estimate for additional infrastructure procurement and reduced project overhead.

3 cities
Operational footprint

The target model supported warehouse and distribution operations across Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam.

A Saudi distribution business with real-time operational demands

AAAD is a leading supplier of primary raw ingredients for bakeries, confectioners and consumers. Operating from warehouses in Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam, the company distributes goods and services throughout Saudi Arabia and sources products from global brands including Nestle, Unilever, Hershey, Ferrero and Lotus Foods.

That operating model depends on accurate inventory, responsive supply chain processes and reliable financial control. As the business grew, the SAP platform had to support faster decisions across stores, warehouses and finance teams without creating a long procurement cycle or a heavy internal infrastructure burden.

  • Multi-location distribution across major Saudi cities
  • Supply chain and finance processes requiring timely data
  • Dependence on SAP for operational control and process consistency

Traditional procurement would have slowed the business process improvement programme

AAAD needed to modernise business processes so supply chain and finance could operate in real time with stores and warehouses. Internal estimates suggested that the required IT infrastructure would add around $250,000 in cost, before accounting for procurement lead time, human resource demand and project complexity.

The requirement was not simply to move infrastructure. AAAD needed a route that could support SAP reliably, reduce time to value and give the team a practical operating model for future cloud deployment.

  • Avoid lengthy infrastructure procurement and capital commitment
  • Reduce implementation risk for live SAP environments
  • Support business process improvement without slowing operations

Cloudwrxs designed the AWS SAP infrastructure and migration roadmap

Cloudwrxs partnered with AAAD to design a cloud-based infrastructure solution for the new SAP requirements, migrate live on-premise SAP environments and supporting systems to AWS, and define a longer-term roadmap for cloud deployment.

The engagement also included AWS familiarisation workshops for the existing team. This was important because the target state had to be operable by the client after migration, not simply delivered as a one-off technical project.

  • Designed an AWS-based infrastructure foundation for SAP workloads
  • Migrated live on-premise SAP environments and supporting systems
  • Created a long-term roadmap for cloud deployment
  • Delivered AWS familiarisation workshops for the internal team

A faster SAP on AWS migration with a stronger operating foundation

The migration was completed in three months and within budget. The new AWS-based SAP infrastructure gave AAAD a more scalable and responsive platform for supply chain and finance operations while avoiding the delay and cost profile of traditional infrastructure procurement.

For Cloudwrxs, the reference demonstrates the value of combining SAP delivery experience with practical AWS infrastructure design. The result was not just a technical migration, but a clearer foundation for business process improvement and future cloud adoption.

  • Efficient migration completed within a controlled three-month window
  • Reduced dependency on traditional infrastructure procurement
  • Improved platform readiness for real-time supply chain and finance processes
