SAP Netweaver 7.4 deadline looming: Time is running out to upgrade BW, EP and PI

SAP announced in February that it would extend maintenance for SAP Business Suite to 2027, with extended support offered to 2030. A key technical condition that SAP applied to this announcement, and one that’s often mistaken, was that mainstream maintenance for standalone deployments on Netweaver releases below 7.5 would cease on 31st December, 2020, with no extended maintenance option on offer.

It’s vital to understand what this means to you, as a SAP customer.

The end of maintenance will impact you if you run SAP’s Business Warehouse (BW), Enterprise Portal (EP), Process Integration (PI) or a bespoke deployment on SAP Netweaver release 7.40 and below. Those of you who are yet to upgrade BW, EP or PI to Netweaver 7.5, you only have a few months left before SAP withdraws support, and now is the time for action.
